About

Catharin Shepard

I'm a journalist with over 10 years of experience working in daily and weekly newsrooms. In the last eight years I've brought home more than 30 awards from the North Carolina Press Association's News, Editorial and Photojournalism Contest. I earned my master's degree from the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia.

I care about my community and have a passion for helping people. I want to tell others' stories and provide the knowledge my readers need to stay informed. I'm a person before I'm a reporter and believe it's the best way to do journalism. I value compassion and respect for others as highly as I value accuracy and timeliness.

My community involvement has included previously serving with the Raeford-Hoke County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Hoke County Friends of the Library.

I enjoy reading, swimming, reptiles, gardening, enjoying nature, and the Oxford comma.
